So I've pretty much established how easy it is to transport myself between my home in Arlington and my office in Tysons Corner without the means of a car. So much so that I turned in my parking pass to my office (which they always covered the cost - so it's a savings to them). This week presented me with a new challenge of trying to keep up the car-free commute. I am doing a bit of house/dog sitting out in Ashburn (which is a bit further west than Dulles airport for those who are not familiar).
Thankfully my temporarily adjusted commute coincides with a brand new express bus service launched yesterday which runs between Leesburg/Ashburn and Tysons Corner. The service which runs during the week offers morning and evening runs on brand new coach style buses complete with FREE wi-fi service. Not only that I hear you can enjoy your morning coffee (or other beverage of choice) while on the bus. And should you consume a little too much coffee or water on the ride - there's a bathroom on board too!
I tried this new service out yesterday for my commute home. It cost me $3 (using my handy SmarTrip card) and the total drive time was only 40 minutes. I barely had enough time to break out my laptop and respond to a few emails before we were taking the exit for my stop in Ashburn. The bus makes multiple stops on its trek through Tysons so it's not hard at all to catch it - and it came right on time yesterday for the stop closest to my building (which is across the street)
