On Tuesday, May 15, Arlingtonians for a Clean Environment (ACE) and the Mount Vernon Group of the Virginia Chapter of the Sierra Club are holding an Alternative Transportation Expo. The first-ever event will take place from 7:30-9:00 p.m. at the Walter Reed Community Center, 2909 16th Street South in Arlington. Participants will learn about getting around Arlington without a personal car at this free event!
Organizations and companies participating in the Alternative Transportation Expo include Arlington County Fresh AIRE, Arlington Transit (ART), Arlington Transportation Partners, BikeArlington, the Commuter Store, Flexcar, Nuride.com, Telework Exchange, WALKArlington, and Zipcar. Flexcar is sponsoring the event, which will provide a chance for attendees to talk to experts about car-sharing, bicycling, walking, public transit, and telecommuting. The Arlington County mobile Commuter Store, an ART bus, a Flexcar, and a Zipcar will be parked on-site. The event will also include door prizes and refreshments.
The Alternative Transportation Expo is part of ACE's 2007 Green Living Challenge, a ten-month campaign to make Arlington a healthier, more sustainable community through personal actions. For more information, call 703-228-6427 or e-mail ACE at office@arlingtonenvironment.org
Mark your calendar for next Tuesday, May 15th. No matter what transportation alternative you choose to get there, just be sure to get there!
