Registration for the third annual Arlington & Alexandria Community Bike Ride is now open! Arlingtonians and Alexandrians alike have been chomping at the bit to register for this annual ride, to be held on June 3, 2007. This non-competitive cycling event will offer two route options, a 23-mile Community Tour of Arlington and Alexandria and a shorter 7-mile Family Ride. Both rides start and finish on South 28th Street in Shirlington.
Cost: The cost of the Ride is $15 per person for those who register on-line and $20 for those who register the day of the event. Children 13 and under are free. Along with enjoying a great ride on what will be a beautiful day (our weather committee promises), all participants will receive a bike bell, refreshments, opportunities to make new friends, and a chance to win one of many new bikes!
Registration: You may register on-line at www.waba.org/cbr or at the Ride. We encourage you to register early as the Ride is limited to 1,200 riders and participation is based on a first-come/first-served basis.
Start Time & Location: Check-in for riders will be from 7 - 8 am on South 28th Street at South Randolph Street. Riders doing the Community Tour will leave at 8 am. Riders doing the Family Ride will begin at 8:30 am.
Don't have a Bike? Not a problem. Rent a bike and helmet for $20 and have it delivered to Shirlington too!
After the Ride stick around for live music from Schizophonic, ride the Kinetic Bike Sculpture, check-out the Traveling Bike Museum which has a history of bikes on display, and valet park your bike with us on S. 28th St. while you enjoy one of the many great restaurants in Shirlington. For the kiddies there will be a mounbounce, face painting, and a bike safety rodeo. It's going to be a great ride and a beautiful day, so we'll see you there!
