New fares for ART & STAR effective July 1

*Update Thursday, July 1: The effective date for STAR fare increases is now July 12, 2010.  ART fare increases proceed as scheduled.*

Don't forget about the new fares effective this Thursday.  

For ART, that means moving from $1.25 to $1.50 for both SmarTrip and cash fare.  Seniors, individuals with disabilities and teens ride for $0.75.  

The tiered-fare structure for STAR paratransit system will be adjusted as follows:

• $2.50 to $3.00 for local trips (Zone 1)  
• $3.00 to $4.00 for trips inside the Beltway (Zone 2)
• $7.00 to $8.50 for regional trips (Zone 3)

The STAR zones remain the same; only the fares change effective July 1.
