As the Arlington Transit Bureau Chief and on behalf of all of us who work at Arlinton Transit, I want to welcome you to the new ART Blog. We welcome your comments and suggestions about what we are doing well and what we can do to better serve you.
As some of you may know, ART is now clelbrating its 10th year of providing local bus service to the community. Thanks to your support, we have grown to more than a million annual passengers in the last year. We are excited about ART's future, and we look forward to working with you as we strive to bring you better service and more transit options.

Public Meeting January 28, 2010
Arlington Transit (ART) with the assistance of the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) has initiated a study that will result in a Transit Development Plan (TDP), which ultimately will be adopted by the County Board. Please join ART and DRPT staff and the TDP consultant team for an initial briefing and worksession, which will be held on January 28, 2010 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Navy League Building - main floor conference room, 2300 Wilson Blvd.
The Transit Development Plan will be a comprehensive six-year plan that will guide the growth of transit and paratransit services provided by the County through ART and STAR and by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) through Metrorail, Metrobus and MetroAccess. The TDP will build upon the policies, goals and objectives adopted by the County Board in the Master Transportation Plan and in the Transit Element.
We are now in the initial stage of the TDP study, collecting data and analyzing existing and programed services. At this initial meeting the consultant team will provide an overview of existing services and program plans, setting the stage for your opportunity to discuss with other stakeholders, staff and consultants, your interests for the future of the County’s transit and paratransit services.

Thank for you for the electronic timetables for the ART buses. Now if they would only function properly. I ride the 38B to Clarendon and transfer to the ART41. I never experience a problem with the 38B. For the past week I have had to take the ART42 to Ballston and transfer to a 23A/C bus in order to get home in the evening due to extended waits for a ART41 bus. The electronic timetable indicates 18-28 minutes before the next ART41 bus will arrive (this is 6:10-6:15pm). There s/be better rush hour scheduling than this when multiple 38B buses can traverse DC's rush hour, and ART cannot circulate around Arlington!! Too often I see double the number of ART42 buses w/no passengers to standing room only ART41. Something is wrong. I am tired of taking three buses to get home in the evening!!
